Prenatal Yoga provides a safe and calming environment for pregnant women to nurture their bodies and bond with their unborn babies. This class will help build and maintain strength, stamina and flexibility and improve balance and circulation. Yoga can also alleviate many of the discomforts of pregnancy such as nausea, constipation, varicose veins, swelling, back pain and sciatica.
The benefits of prenatal yoga go beyond creating comfort in the physical body. Yoga can help to balance the hormones of the endocrine system, offering pregnant women an over all sense of tranquilly. The breathing techniques and meditative aspects of yoga can help to alleviate anxiety sounding pregnancy and childbirth which can be carried though and applied during labour. Prenatal classes are specially modified for women in any stage of pregnancy, no yoga experience necessary.
Restorative yoga uses yoga props (bolster and blankets) to hold the body in calming yoga postures for extended periods of time to encourage a deep and restful state. Experiencing true relaxation regularly is essential for our bodies to be able to function at it’s peak performance. Our modern, over stimulated lives can make it changeling to shift our energy from active and performing to receiving and letting go.
This class is very different to ‘a regular’ yoga class as we will focus on the ‘receiving and letting go’ accepts of the practice. By resting deeply and consciously we allow tension to release, we allow our bodies to soften, and most importantly, we allow for a parasympathetic nervous system to come back online and for energy to flow freely.
Restorative Yoga helps us feel the importance of true, deep rest to our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being. If you love Savasana, you will love this class!
This class is suitable for all levels of ability.
